Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Bangladesh and Fair Wear Foundation organized a webinar to discuss preparations for the upcoming UN 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence with 236 registered participants from 99 RMG factories. The webinar, held on 13 November 2024, discussed experience of celebrating the same in previous years along with plans for this year’s celebration. The campaign takes place from 25 November to 10 December every year.
Factory representatives discussed the positive effects of the campaign on worker awareness, safety measures, and reporting systems. They also outlined their planned activities for this year, which include organizing rallies, distributing posters, announcement of anti-GBV messages at the factory floor through public announcement system, organizing training sessions, and holding discussions with workers and management.
ETI Bangladesh and Fair Wear Foundation shared their plans for the 2024 campaign, which will involve distributing IEC materials like posters and videos to factories, running social media campaigns, and hosting a roundtable discussion along with participating in events organized by like-minded organizations and platforms.
The webinar concluded with a strong call for continuous effort in addressing and preventing violence against women.
