The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Bangladesh hosted two consultative workshops as part of a comprehensive research collaboration with BRAC University. These workshops held on 30 August and 3 September 2023, were collective efforts to promote just transition, environmental sustainability, and green energy practices in the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector. The primary objective of these workshops was to better understand the perspectives, beliefs, degrees of involvement, and readiness of women and youth federation leaders in the transition.
The workshops focused on developing a comprehensive research interview questionnaire that would effectively gauge the perceptions and readiness of both women and youth forum. This approach aimed to ensure inclusivity and gender sensitivity in the transition process while also fostering intergenerational cooperation for sustainable initiatives. These workshops brought together 28 participants from 22 organizations to contribute to this vital endeavor.
Additionally, the workshops delved into the topic of inclusivity of women and youth participation, with a particular focus on their involvement in sustainability initiatives.
The participants are vital in promoting positive changes in the country’s socioeconomic environment. They emphasized the importance of such programmes in helping them better understand the transition to green energy practices. The participants expressed sincere thanks to ETI Bangladesh and BRAC University for including them in the dialogue process and providing them with a platform to contribute.
