Participation Committee members agreed to develop and implement an action plan on medical facilities, leave procedures and attendance through social dialogue on 16 February 2026 at a ready-made garment (RMG) factory in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.
Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Bangladesh convened a joint half-day training for 18 Participation Committee members, including 10 worker representatives and 8 management representatives, at a RMG factory. The programme brought together management and workers to strengthen collaboration and institutionalise a social dialogue mechanism to support a decent workplace.
The training focused on the roles and responsibilities of the Participation Committee, the social dialogue process, agenda submission and the member selection process. Participants examined how workplace dialogue supports labour rights and links workplace relations with productivity and quality.
Participants reviewed current meeting practices, participation of women members and adherence to bilateral discussion procedures. The session addressed meeting documentation, minutes recording and development of action plans based on discussion outcomes.
The agreed action plan prioritises medical facilities, sick and casual leave procedures and reduction of unauthorised absence. Members also committed to organising sessions on workers’ rights and benefits for all staff and to engaging Participation Committee members as training assistants in future programmes.
