ETI Bangladesh took part in the 9th Bangladesh Leather & Footwear Expo. The event was organised by the Bangladesh Tanners’ Association (BTA) and took place from 24 to 26 July 2025. It was a three-day event focused on the leather and footwear sector. Many manufacturers, suppliers, and policymakers joined from different parts of the industry.
The expo was inaugurated by industry experts, worker representatives, and key government officials. Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Industries, served as the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The event was led by Md. Shahin Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Tanners’ Association. Other guests included Md. Saiful Islam, Chairman of BSCIC; Baby Rani Karmakar, Director General of the Export Promotion Bureau; and Md. Ali Bappy, President of the Leather Engineers & Technologists Society.
In a collaborative effort, ETI Bangladesh and GIZ Bangladesh shared booth space with the Leather Development Forum (LDF), allowing LDF member organisations to showcase materials and initiatives aimed at advancing Bangladesh’s leather industry. The LDF booth featured visuals, message boards, and slideshows to raise awareness of the environmental and social challenges facing the country’s tannery sector.
The event provided an opportunity to engage with private sector participants, share ideas, and promote sustainable practices in the leather supply chain. ETI Bangladesh used the event to encourage ethical business practices. It focused on compliance, workplace safety, and environmental management.
ETI Bangladesh showed its commitment through this event. It aims to support people in the leather sector. The goal is to help build a cleaner, fairer, and more competitive future for the industry.
