The 5th Executive Committee Meeting of the Worker-led Climate Action Network (Worker CAN) was convened on 16th July 2026, at the ETI Bangladesh office.
Worker CAN is a network of 13 trade union federations representing women and youth leaders, working collectively to ensure that workers remain at the centre of Bangladesh's industrial green transition.
The meeting marked the finalisation of the network's Terms of Reference (ToR), following detailed discussion and endorsement by the Executive Committee. The approved ToR establishes the foundation for Worker CAN's future work on climate and environment-friendly industrial relations, renewable energy, decarbonisation, climate action, and ensuring a just transition that leaves no worker behind.
New Conveners and Member Secretaries of the network was elected by the members present during the meeting. The official Facebook page of Worker CAN was also launched, while its social media guidelines were reviewed, discussed, and approved to expand visibility of Worker CAN activities in the sector.
The Executive Committee members further discussed the network's upcoming capacity-building, mobilisation, and advocacy initiatives, including observance of key national and international days related to climate action, workers' rights, renewable energy, decarbonisation, environmental sustainability, and just transition. These activities will strengthen workers' knowledge, leadership, and collective voice in shaping a greener and more inclusive industrial future for Bangladesh.
The meeting was held as a part of ETI Bangladesh’s initiative, “Promoting Just Transition & Environmental Sustainability in Bangladesh’s RMG Sector.” The initiative seeks to build the capacity of youth and women worker leaders to engage in dialogue and contribute to industrial decarbonisation and renewable energy transition in the RMG sector.
