The Ethical Trading Initiative Bangladesh hosted a two-day Capacity Building Training Workshop on Just Transition, Green Energy, and Environmental Sustainability in the Bangladesh RMG Industry. This event brought 29 participants from IndustriALL Bangladesh Council (IBC) Women & Youth Committee (20 Women, 9 Men).
The event aimed at creating awareness and building capacity of IBC Women and Youth committee for worker-led climate actions in the Bangladesh RMG industry. The event discussed the concepts of just transition and climate change and their impacts on workers. It also focused on green energy transition and the role of worker representatives.
The workshop included an introduction to ETI Bangladesh initiative in just transition & environmental sustainability. Sessions covered various aspects of just transition, climate change, and green energy and their interlinkages. The potential impacts of climate change and energy transition on workers were discussed. The vital role of trade unions in a just green energy transition was emphasized. Participants exchanged views and experiences on enabling a just, sustainable transition that upholds workers' rights & environmental sustainability in the RMG sector through various group activities.
